Keeper for a day (animal experience session)
Through our “Keeper for a Day” scheme we can offer you a unique opportunity to experience a day in the life of a zoo keeper, but be warned, you will be expected to join in the “cleaning”!
Our "Keeper for a Day" experience is available to anyone over 15 years of age (Children between the ages of 8-14 inclusive can do the junior keeper for 1/2 a day). The session begins at 10.00am once the zoo opens and finishes at 4.00pm, giving you the remainder of the day to enjoy the zoo.

The cost of this “special” experience to be a keeper for the day is only £140 for the full day. Why not surprise someone with this unusual present or just treat yourself? This includes admission to the zoo for the “keeper for a day”, free admission to the zoo for one guest only (they will be able to see the keeper for a day around the zoo but will not be able to join in the experience) a meal for two, drinks, certificate of participation and a zoo t-shirt.

Typically, your "Keeper for a Day" session will be spent like this:
Morning
. Be met and introduced to the keepers at reception
. Preparing for the cleaning and feeding routines
. Meet the animals in your routines which include the meerkats, agouti and porcupines (amongst many others)
. Tapir scratching
. Feeding the ring tailed lemurs
. Meeting our reindeer
. Get introduced to the Zoo’s educational contact animals
. Lunch 1.00 - 1.30pm

Afternoon
. Cheetah feeding and inclusion in the talk
. Enrichment activities with some of the zoos animals
. Manicure, feed and clean the tortoises
. Penguin feeding
. Meet our singing dogs
. Tour of any zoo babies and any special animals of interest from the days activities
. End of day presentations
Activities may be subject to change on the day due to welfare or operational factors.
Regrettably the "Keeper for a Day" experience is not available to children under 15 years of age.
